Frequenting cafes and other drinking houses
Frequent provision for a mistress

Marriages for convenience

Retained French language and Catholic religion

FAMILY LIFE

Family dominated by father

Close knit family

Creoles very hospitable and entertained lavishly

Double moral standard for men and women

Good manners very important
