Railroad Town Locater
- Many new towns grew up quickly along the railroad. Using a map of
Louisiana, locate and label the following railroad towns on a blank
map.
Bernice, Bunkie, Crowley, Eunice, Gibsland, Ruston,
and Zwolle.
- Use the compass rose to find the direction you would travel on
a train from Crowley to Zwolle.
- Using
the map scale, find the distance between Ruston and Bunkie.
- Use
the map scale to decide which is further from New Orleans, Bernice or
Eunice.
- Many other towns were bypassed by the railroad. Either they relocated
closer to the line or faded out of existence. Using a map of Louisiana,
try to locate and label the following 19th-century towns.
Arizona,
Bayou Sara, Bellevue, Grand Coteau, and Vienna.
