BASIC OVERVIEW OF EARLY 20TH CENTURY ARCHITECTURE

                  Homes of the 20th Century

Overview:

This lesson examines the unique architecture of homes that were a part of the early 20th Century in Louisiana. During the lesson, students will analyze and compare the characteristics of the different styles and types, discover how events and circumstances affect structures and the lifestyle in the early 20th century, conduct investigations on this architecture using primary and secondary sources, and design and develop a mail order catalog from their research which contains the various buildings of the 20th Century.

Approximate Duration:

3-5 forty minute class periods. How this lesson is taught largely depends on the availability of computer equipment in the classroom (or a computer lab setting) and on how much technology is incorporated by the instructor.
